The regularly scheduled Saturday afternoon card at Hastings Racecourse has been cancelled due to a virus that has spread through the barns, General Manager Darren MacDonald announced today.
“We made every effort to fill the back-to-back weekend cards,” MacDonald said. “The virus has spread through our horse population and we figured it would be in our best interest to put on a 10-race card Sunday and cancel Saturday.”
MacDonald said he is hopeful that a sufficient number of horses will be healthy enough to fill the two days of racing on the final weekend of the 2015 thoroughbred season Oct. 24 & 25.
