Horses of Hoofprint Bay is a lovingly hand-drawn 2D point-and-click barn buildup game. Players take over a piece of farmland and slowly upgrade it from a few ramshackle sheds to a prestigious stud farm. Players earn money through participating in show jumping competitions, giving riding lessons, and selling homebred yearlings, while investing in additional buildings and upgrades and staff to manage their growing herd.
Horses of Hoofprint Bay is a very classic take on the horse game formula, but modernized through the lens of a team made up entirely of horse lovers. The game is family-friendly and safe for kids, but offers a challenge to adult players who want to perfect their horses over generations and succeed in the more difficult competitions.
Horses of Hoofprint Bay was developed by Thogli Studios, a development team from Germany consisting of illustrator Anna Glinsmann and software engineer Theresa Thoma, with Alice Ruppert of The Mane Quest – a website dedicated to horse video games – handling the game’s marketing and production. The game is closely inspired by the 2003 game My Horse Farm (Mein Pferdehof) by Limbic Entertainment, known as Let’s Ride! Sunshine Stables in North America.
Both developers played various horse games in their childhood and went on to rediscover the genre in adulthood. “When I moved to the big city for uni, I craved horses and nature more than ever,” explains Glinsmann. “That’s how I ended up finding likeminded community via The Mane Quest!” Thoma’s story is similar, except she happened to be stuck at an Antarctic research station for over a year at the time. “I had absolute horse withdrawal,” she says. “So I searched for horse games and found TMQ.”
A free demo of Horses of Hoofprint Bay was released on Steam in February 2026 to overwhelmingly positive reviews and was played by almost 40,000 people within a few weeks. On November 4th, 2026, the full version of the game will be released.
