When it comes to celebrities and their horses, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more dedicated equestrian celeb than American Kaley Cuoco. The Big Bang Theory star, who is nominated for her first Emmy for The Flight Attendant, is a social media sensation for her acting chops, but also for her promotion of show jumping, animal welfare, and rescue dogs and miniature horses. She recently waded into the Olympic Modern Pentathlon scandal, as reported in Horse-Canada.

By her side every step of the way since 2016, has been fellow equestrian, Karl Cook. The duo was married in 2018 and have charmed the Internet ever since. Their mutual admiration was evident right from the start, and their three-year marriage appeared to be perfection – especially to all of us horse and animal lovers.

But last week: splitsville. Cuoco announced via a joint statement that she can Cook were no more. Gossip column Page Six
ran excerpts in its recent post:

“Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions,” the statement read, later adding they plan “to keep this aspect of our personal life private.”

“There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary,” the statement continued.

“We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further.”

Why the break-up? Amicable or not, the couple’s conscious uncoupling has rocked the horse world. If they can’t make it, who can?

Cook is the son of a billionaire software developer, so this isn’t about the pre-nup, folks. What we do know, is that Cuoco has already wiped her Instagram bio; it used to read Mrs.@Mrtankcook, now it simply reads, “Yes, Norman,” a reference to her entertainment empire, Norman Productions, named after a beloved dog who passed away.

The numerous photos of the couple remain on her account, including an adorable snap posted on their anniversary (above) with a post that did not hint at troubled waters: “NY, June 30th, 2016 is the year we met. 2 years to the day before we got married and now 3 years married! Why have you stayed married to me for so long?! I’m sincerely impressed @mrtankcook lol I love you oh so much you have no idea …happy anniversary!!!” ❤️❤️❤️

According to People Magazine, it wasn’t just fans who were taken aback by the announcement. An anonymous source close to the couple told the celebrity magazine, “In the beginning of the summer, Kaley seemed very happy with Karl. They were affectionate and seemed great… The split seems very sudden. It’s pretty shocking.”

Cuoco just wrapped filming on a romantic comedy opposite SNL star Pete Davison, who apparently recently split up from his girlfriend. Is this evidence of an on-set romance? Or was the working and living apart too much of a strain on Cuoco and Cook?

What we are all left wondering is how will they divide custody of the numerous horses, dogs, and bunnies between them. And while we wish both accomplished horse people well, we will miss seeing them together.
