We love it when tech intersects with our sport ‒ and three free apps from Grey Pony Films have hit Apple and Android stores in the last month. Here we break down the latest entries in the equestrian’s technology arsenal.

Dressage Hero

This inventive app gives dressage riders an opportunity to socialize with riding friends, “ride” tests, take lessons, and includes dressage games you can play with multiple riders. We also liked the audio editions of dressage tests so you can have someone calling out the moves as you ride your horse. Suitable for all levels & breeds of horses.

Rideable

This app allows horse owners and riders to track daily progress with their horse. The developer refers to it as a “horse riding tracker” and it comes with a library of groundwork and riding ideas, and motivational equestrian messages to help you improve your skills. Users can track their monthly trends and riding improvements. You can also create and write notes and lessons from every training session. Ideal for all horse riding disciplines. We liked how easy it was to use. Bonus: the app can track up to eight horses.

Polework Horse Riding Lessons

The title speaks for itself, but as many of us know, riding inside over the winter can create boredom for horse and rider. This app is a salve for the ring sour; it comes with 12 groundwork and pole work ideas and layouts. Riding over poles creates increased bend and flexibility through the body, improves rhythm and coordination, strengthens and engages the back, hindquarters, and topline. Pole work exercises are also great to develop suppleness, elasticity, and range of motion of the limbs and joints, encourage the horse to become lighter in front and lift up the forehand and helps improve stride lengthening and collection.
