It was a truly frightening Halloween for a Toronto Mounted Unit officer when they found themselves separated from their horse while patrolling downtown Toronto on October 31st.
Video posted to TikTok (which has now been viewed over 76,000 times) shows two police horses trotting in the west-end neighborhood of Liberty Village, both sporting red ‘tail lights’ but only one of the horses carrying a rider. Moments later a police officer is seen giving chase to the runaway horse.
Toronto police confirmed to CTV News Toronto that the officer was about to mount the horse, but it took off before they could saddle up. “The horse was secured very quickly and no one was injured,” police said in a statement to CP24.
