Celebrities, they’re just like us! Or at least they can be like the many of us who show in the hunter ring.
The latest celeb to be revealed as a horsewoman is Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. The 41-year old Californian is the daughter of musician John Mellencamp and is married to Edwin Arroyave, CEO and founder of Skyline Security Management, which manages Brinks among other clients.
Video footage of Mellencamp riding in the hunter ring at Thermal, California’s winter circuit at Desert International Horse Park was posted on The Daily Mail. The UK media outlet described her outfit as a “deep blue blazer” and putting on a “stylish display in a white top with a high-neck collar.” Otherwise known as show clothes. Remember, the Brits don’t have hunter classes like we do in North America, which may explain the confusion. But hey, they did describe the look as “sophisticated.”
For her part, Mellencamp has posted her own video to Instagram reminding her fans that she once rode professionally. She also writes in the post that during that particular horse show a couple of weeks ago, she won both the 5K Classic and the Handy class on her horses.
And the horse love runs in the family, with her daughter Slate taking lessons and competing too. In an earlier post, Mellencamp is pictured with Slate at a ribbon ceremony (pictured above), where she writes: “I always say riding saved my life growing up because it kept me out of trouble. I always chose horses above anything else. That I have worked and saved hard enough to allow Slate to do the same makes my heart full. She’s not only a lovely rider and good horseman, she’s also the biggest cheerleader for her friends. Being able to do this together is a dream come true; one that all started because my mom @hhigeegee did the same for me 💕”
The star currently trains with Archie Cox at Brookway Stables in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.
