Walt Disney Studios Canada is pleased to announce that Silver, the star horse from Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Film’s “The Lone Ranger,” will attend this year’s Calgary Stampede. Joined by famed horse trainer, Bobby Lovgren, Silver will take part in the Stampede Parade and make an appearance at the Agricultural Building on July 5th. Directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger” opens across Canada on July 3, 2013.

A ten-year-old Thoroughbred-quarter horse mix from Canyon County, California, who is incredibly named Silver off screen as well, Silver makes his debut in a lead role as The Lone Ranger’s “spirit horse.” Ridden by Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger, John Reid), Silver also shares several scenes and quite a bit of interaction with Johnny Depp, who stars as Tonto. Bobby Lovgren, one of the world’s foremost movie horse trainers, is perhaps best known as the head trainer on Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse” and has also worked on “Seabiscuit” and “The Mask of Zorro.” He and Silver worked together years earlier before reuniting for “The Lone Ranger.”

“We are so proud to be working with the Calgary Stampede and beyond delighted to have our star, Silver, joining in this year’s festivities. The resolve and determination of the people of Calgary have been heroic and inspiring and we couldn’t be more honoured to be joining all our friends at the Stampede as they prove once again why this is the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth,” said Greg Mason, VP, marketing, Walt Disney Studios Canada.
