Fans of the Shrek films might have something to get excited about. While nothing official has been announced, film star Eddie Murphy recently told ETalk that not only is he interested in doing another Shrek film, he’d love to.

Murphy famously voiced the character, Donkey, who is, as you might have guessed, a donkey. “I’d absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek, I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey,” the actor tells the interviewer.
The character of Donkey first appeared in the 1990 picture book Shrek before stealing the show in the first Shrek movie in 2001. Donkey’s special power is his ability to talk, and he is sold to the evil Lord Farquaad’s knights by his owner. When the little donkey escapes, he befriends the grumpy ogre Shrek, who reluctantly allows the animal to tag along.
There have been four movies in the franchise to date, and Murphy is angling for a fifth Shrek, and also for Donkey to have his own spinoff movie. “They should have did a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t funny as the Donkey.”
