When Val Artimowich and her husband Gerald woke up March 14, 2014, they were stunned to discover the roof of their Dryden, Ontario riding stable’s indoor arena had collapsed in a tangle of wood and metal.

The 14-year-old, 75’ x 180’ structure consisted of both arena and barn. There were seven horses inside the stable. “My husband and I ran up to the building with the first concern being the animals. We didn’t know what we were going to find,” said Artimowich.

Amazingly, the horses were uninjured and the couple was able to safely extract the animals despite the large amount of debris.
