Two horses were euthanized following an investigation by the Nottawasaga OPP, who received a complaint alleging neglect at a farm on the 5th line of Essa Township, on October 16th.
A veterinarian was called in to examine two horses, who, it was deemed, had been neglected for some time and were in extreme pain. Investigators concluded that standard of care by which the horses were being kept was below reasonable expectations.
Forty-four-year old Amie Lin, of Markham, has been charged with two counts of animal neglect. She was also charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 for damage caused to an adjacent crop, as the fencing of the horses’ paddock was compromised, allowing them access to the neighbouring field.
Lin is set to appear in court in Bradford on November 17th.
