In a move straight out of the futuristic HBO series Westworld comes the first robotic horse ready to ride into the sunset.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries has released AI video footage of the Corleo, a concept vehicle that is a quadruped robot on which you sit astride and steer with your body, similar to giving riding aids. The machine can navigate difficult footing and rugged terrain using AI, making it a futuristic off-road mobility concept combining the energy of motorcycling with advanced robotics:
The Corleo was revealed on April 4 at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
The robot gets its horsepower from hydrogen fuel cells and according to online magazine New Atlas appears electrically actuated. “Its rear legs appear to have an additional joint in them for improved impact resistance – and also presumably to fling riders off the back, stand up, and take up arms when the robot wars begin.”
However, certain details such as bifurcated hooves (which have rubber treads for grip) make us wonder if this isn’t a robotic cow instead of a horse or centaur.

Riders grip a handlebar and the “saddle” has adjustable stirrups, and according to one X user, “It constantly analyses the position of both the robot and the rider, ensuring that the rider is securely held in the saddle.”
Watching the video of Corleo moving across various terrain – an AI representation, not the actual machine which is still only a concept vehicle – we can’t help but think the movements and “gaits” are more catlike than any horse. As video gamers can attest, capturing accurate canter and gallop movement is a challenge.
There is no word yet as to when the Corleo might be in mass production, or its cost. One thing Corleo has got going for it, you’d never have to worry about mucking out, board or vet bills!
