The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has found himself embroiled in a scandal involving sexual misconduct accusations from a flight attendant who gave him a massage on his private jet. According to reports he offered to buy her a horse in exchange for sexual favours.
Perhaps it’s all horseplay, but there have been whispers throughout history of women using their beauty and feminine charms to land a nice show jumper or dressage horse (gasp!). In other words, given the flight attendant was also a rider, perhaps Musk knew the costs of our sport and thought he’d buy her a performance horse if she performed.
Musk has denied the allegations. And his friends have rallied around the Tesla and SpaceX titan, with YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley joking in a tweet, “Stop horsing around and close this Twitter deal. We all want a happy ending!”
To which Musk replied:
For the record, the incident occurred in 2016, so it’s kinda old news, save for the fact that Musk has been making even more headlines with his plans to buy (or not buy) Twitter. He’s gone so far as to suggest if he does take over the social media giant, he will reinstate controversial users like former President Donald Trump.
Suffice to say that “Elongate” (as Musk wants to anoint the scandal) has been dusted off in order to create negative buzz for the billionaire. Champagne problems for sure. But he may have a point, having made disparaging comments about the Democrats in recent days. He tweeted, “The attacks against me should be viewed through a political lens – this is their standard (despicable) playbook – but nothing will deter me from fighting for a good future and your right to free speech.”
As for what happened to the flight attendant? She didn’t go for it and instead launched a lawsuit, resulting in a $250,000 settlement from Musk. Looks like she’ll get to go horse shopping after all…
