St-Lazare’s Kennedy Ballard won the Canadian Equestrian Team Medal with Nite at the National Bromont held at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park until May 19.

A equitation event part of the development program of the National Federation, the Canadian Equestrian Team Medal is designed to enhance the equitation skills of young riders, helping them to perform successfully at high-level competitions.

Seven horse-rider pairs took part in this first qualifier outdoors of the 2019 season, on a course designed by Michael Pegg of Uxbridge, Ontario. The goal for the young riders is to accumulate precious points allowing them to represent Quebec at the Royal Winter Fair in November, in Toronto.

With its 10 obstacles for 12 efforts and two double combinations, the course was an interesting challenge for the riders, 5 of them qualifying for the second round, equitation on the flat.

The National Bromont will end Sunday with the presentation of two flagship events of these two weeks of competition, the Hunter Classic as well as the Grand Prix, part of the Quebec Provincial Equestrian Tour. The tour aims to recognize the best riders on the provincial competition circuit.
