This CDI3* saw many Canadians place in the top ranks of their classes, and not just in the Young Rider and the Grand Prix division where Ashley Holzer and Belinda Trussell placed first and second respectively (see February 15 release).

2007 Pan American Game silver medalist Tom Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON was the dominant Canadian in the Advanced division riding Augustin Walch’s Viva’s Salieri W.  In Friday’s Prix St. Georges, Dvorak rode the nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Viva Voltaire to a tie for second, earning 68.947%. The combination placed third in Saturday’s Intermediaire 1, scoring 69.298%.

Shingler won the Intermediaire 1 Freestyle on Sunday aboard Tividor, her 10-year-old Dutch gelding by Obelisk, earning 66.300%.  The duo placed fifth behind Dvorak in the Intermediaire 1 with 67.193%, improving upon their score of 64.912% in the St. Georges. Fraser and her gelding Tolando, also a 10-year-old Dutch gelding (Krack C x Rubinstein) were close behind Shingler in the Intermediaire 1 in sixth place with 66.754%. Harris earned 65.000% on Klouseau, her nine-year-old Trakehner gelding (Kastanie XII x Arogno) for ninth place in the St. Georges, and 11th in the Intermediaire 1 with 65.702%.

Western Canadian riders also had opportunity to show in the sunshine this past weekend.  The CDI3* Thermal was held February 12–14 in Thermal, California. WEG team hopeful Wendy Christoff of Delta, BC and her 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding Pfalstaff (by Palladium) placed second in Saturday’s Grand Prix Special, improving upon their sixth place in Friday’s Grand Prix.

The next CDI in Florida takes place March 4-7, 2010 at the CDI-W CDI-W Palm Beach Dressage Derby, while the next CDI in California is the CDI3* in Burbank, February 26–28, 2010.
