The Canadian Show Jumping Team members have been selected for the Longines FEI Nations Cup™ taking place during the CSIO 5* Coapexpan in Xalapa, MEX from April 18-22, 2018.

The team competing for Canada in the $5,690,000 MXN CSIO 5* Longines FEI Nations’ Cup on April 22 will consist of the following athletes:

The Canadian athletes will be led on the ground in Xalapa by Equestrian Canada, Manager of Jumping, Karen Hendry-Ouellette and Chef d’Équipe, Mark Laskin.

The CSIO 5* Coapexpan will mark the Nations’ Cup debut for Laura Jane Tidball, whose family operates the Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC. Tidball is also the trainer for Thunderbird Show Stables, and made her FEI debut in 2008, with over 120 FEI competitions now under her belt. Tidball has seen much success over the past two years with Concetto Son, a 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding she purchased from Olympic champion, Steve Guerdat of Switzerland, in the fall of 2016. Highlights have included top finishes at the 2017 Spruce Meadows Summer Tournament Series and the CSI 3*-W Royal West in Calgary, AB.

The $5,690,000 MXN CSIO 5* FEI Nations’ Cup will act as the second qualifier in the North America, Central America and Caribbean League of the 2018 FEI Nations’ Cup Jumping series. Canada is currently leading the league with 100 points, after claiming the $450,000 Longines FEI Nations’ Cup in Ocala, FL on Feb. 18. The United States is holding second place with 75 points, with Mexico in third on 55 points.

The third and final FEI Nations’ Cup qualifier will take place on June 3 during the CSIO 5* Odlum Brown BC Open at the Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC. From there, the top two teams in the league will be invited to contest the Nations’ Cup Final in Barcelona, ESP set for Oct. 4-7, 2018.
