Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame accepting nominations for new inductees

The deadline is quickly approaching to submit a nomination for an athlete, team, or sport "builder" into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

To date, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame has 56 different sports represented of the 66 total sports included in the Hall of Fame in their 2019 nominations. Nominate your sports hero for induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame today!

The January 15, 2019 deadline is quickly approaching to submit a nomination for an athlete, team, or sport “builder”. Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame invites all sport organizations and members of the public to nominate their sport heroes.

The criteria for selection are as follows:

  • Outstanding sports contribution.
  • Outstanding social purpose beyond sport.

A number of equestrian stars have been previously inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, including:

Big Ben (1996)

James Day (1968)

James Elder (1968)

Tom Gayford (1968)

Ian Millar (1996)

Ron and Margaret Southern (Builder, 2006)

Denis Whitaker (Builder, 1990)

Nomination forms and detailed information are available at sportshall.ca and nominations must be submitted to nominations@cshof.ca before January 15, 2019.
