BIG YEAR FOR ONTARIO BREEDERS FITZHENRY AND ANDERSON

It has been a spine-tingling year for Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry of Toronto, first with their 3-year-old GUY CABALLERO winning the Plate Trial this summer and then Sunday, their filly DIXIE MOON won the prestigious Cup & Saucer Stakes over the boys on the Woodbine grass.

The 2-year-old speedster by Curlin – Dixie Chicken is actually a half sister to ‘Guy’ and she is now in the running for Champion 2-year-old Filly in Canada with another gal who had a big day on Saturday ( see below).

Ridden by Eurico da Silva, who won both stakes races on Sunday (Sister Nation won the Ruling Angel), Dixie Moon’s time of 1:44 1/5 was god for a 75 Beyer Figure. She had been 2nd in the Grade 1 Natalma in her previous race.

WONDER-FUL YEAR FOR DAVID ANDERSON

WONDER GADOT strolled to an easy win in the Grade 3 Mazarine Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday, earning an 81 Beyer Figure in her 3rd career race. The Anderson Farms-bred dark bay is by Medaglia d’Oro from Loving Vindication by Vindication and she was a $325,000 April purchase in Ocala by Gary barber. Mark Casse trains. Patrick Husbands rode the filly to victory in the Mazarine, which had just a field of four.

David Anderson, fresh off selling a $1 million plus yearling at Keeneland, has had a stunning year as owner and breeder with successes like INflexibility, who won the Wonder Where Stakes earlier this year.

Anderson had a big day on Saturday as his own Leviathan won race 11 and Canadian Eh won a maiden race, race 10 for Paul Buttigieg.

NORM MCKNIGHT WINS 3 – continues to chase CASSE STABLE

The miraculous run by Norm McKnight and his team continued with flair on Sunday as it won 3 of the 11 races, cutting the lead behind Mark Casse by 4.
