STALLION AT ATTENTION – Janis Maine’s image of Milwaukee Brew at Adena Springs North is up for a SOVEREIGN AWARD!

BUNNY! by Ericka Rusnak, also up for a Sovereign Award!

SOVEREIGN AWARD NOMINEES!!

Canadian Thoroughbred and Thoroughblog well represented!

Some surprises in the nominations announcement of the SOVEREIGN AWARDS, honouring champions of 2011. The noms were announced about the same time as the OSCARS THIS MORNING!

HOLLYWOOD HIT missed a nomination for champion sprinter and CITY WOLF, a graded stakes winner, is not among the top three noms for older horse, the category that underwent a re-vote.

Lots of very good horses and horsepeople on the lists though, and it should be interesting.

Congratulations to THOROUGHBLOG and CANADIAN THOROUGHBRED contributors JANIS MAINE, ERICKA RUSNAK and DAVE LANDRY hog the noms for BEST PHOTOGRAPH.

Landry is already a Sovereign award winner and these are the first nominations for RUSNAK, a manager at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Aurora, Ontario and horse owner. Rusnak took a picture of BUNNY (Where’s the Ring – She Ain’t Much filly) jumping for joy in the spring.

And JANIS MAINE, also an avid photographer, is up for her first SOVEREIGN with STALLION AT ATTENTION, her image of Milwaukee Brew playing up at the stallion show this past fall at Adena Springs.

Congrats girls!!

Dave Landry’s nominated photo – Filly Wins! – Inglorious in the Plate – it was on the cover of Canadian Thoroughbred
