TIZ A SLAM, the early favourite for the Queen’s Plate in the winter, has a crucial race in his 3-year-old campaign this evening when he goes postward as the favourite for the $500,000 Prince of Wales at Fort Erie.
Owned and bred by Chiefswood Stable, the Tiznow colt has fought hard in his races this season and his 2nd place finish to the tough filly Holy Helena in the Plate was his best effort.
Trained by Roger Attfield, the colt has worked on the dirt, but never raced on it, and his habit of losing ground on the last turn when he appears to lose his action, has cost him in his races.
If he handles the Fort Erie surface at all, he should win but his stablemate AURORA WAY, WITH 1ST TIME lASIX and a screaming dirt workout recently, makes him a very dabgerous rival. Aurora Way was too rank in the Plate and faded, he also bled.
STATE OF HONOR, in the midst if a tough campaign, has tailed off his his form. He handles dirt but has not been able to prove he can win at a route distance.

FORT ERIE – It’s the biggest horse race held within shouting distance of downtown Buffalo.
In fact it’s less than 2 miles away from U.S. Customs at the Peace Bridge.
Fort Erie’s signature horse race, the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes, will be held for the 82nd time on Tuesday evening during a twilight card at the border oval.
With a half million dollar purse on the line, a field of seven including four that ran in the Queen’s Plate, will attempt to secure the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.
