Daily Racing Form breaks news..

Thoroughbred Daily News excerpt..

The $5 million APPLE BLOSSOM (if the two big gals show up) is apparently back on as the date was moved to accommodate Rachel Alexandra.

The race will be run on a dirt track – Rachel’s favourite – over a track that has historically favoured speed – advantage again, Rachel.

APPLE BLOSSOM MOVED; MATCH BACK ON

Oaklawn Park owner Charles Cella, who earlier said the date of the GI Apple Blossom Invitational H. could

not be moved, changed his mind yesterday and announced the contest will be pushed back to Apr. 9 to

give Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d’Oro) more time to prepare. Cella also told Daily Racing

Form that the connections of both Rachel Alexandra and champion Zenyatta (Street Cry {Ire}) have now

agreed to run. AThe Apple Blossom Invitational has been renegotiated,” Cella told DRF.

CANADIANS ELSEWHERE

CONFLICTING REPORT, a Florida bred by Graeme Hall, was an allowance winner at GUlfstream yesterday for owner K K Sangara. The grey sped 5 furlongs on turf in 55.85 and won at 5 to 1.

Sangara’s horses are usually trained by Lorne Richards but since the horse is in Florida, Julia Carey, also

from Woodbine, is the listed trainer.

Attfield high on his filly

By Doug McCoy

OLDSMAR, Fla. – Trainer Roger Attfield believes Lady Shakespeare has the potential to be a championship-caliber performer in the filly and mare turf division this year. On Saturday, Lady Shakespeare tops an overflow field of 14 fillies and mares in the Grade 3, $125,000 Endeavour Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on turf.

The Endeavour and the $75,000 Suncoast Stakes, for 3-year-old fillies at a mile and 40 yards, top the undercard on Festival Preview Day, which is headed by the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes.

Lady Shakespeare, a 4-year-old filly, has won five of her nine career starts. In her 2010 debut, she charged from eighth in the stretch of the Marshua’s River Stakes at Gulfstream Park and finished second, beaten a head.

Attfield has been very patient handling Lady Shakespeare’s career. (read more at drf.com)
