PLATE WORKOUTS FROM SUNDAY
Hotep blows by mates
The SAM-SON FARMS TRIO of GIANT’S TOMB, DARK CLOUD DANCER and HOTEP had a workout at 6 furlongs on Sunday morning and it was an interesting set- up.
Giant’s Tomb and Dark Cloud Dancer worked together while Hotep and Patraick Husbands trailed and it sure loked like the prep was set up for Hotep, although it reportedly was not planned that way.
Hotep then rallied at his mates and burst between the 2 in early strtech and won the prep wrapped up, galloping out well. Giant’s Tomb was eased up soon after the wire and his workout was a bit concerning, at least from watching it.
ROAN INISH had a brisk half mile move under her trainer Carolyn Costigan. The Oaks winner looks sharp as she heads to the Plate.
MOBTHEWARRIOR looked good in his prep with his blinkers on and he ran well in the Plate Trial but may find the distance of the Plate a bit tough.
VICAR STREET, the maiden, rallied to win his workout under Tyler Pizarro.
Trainer ROGER ATTFIELD reports that MOBILIZER did indeed wear ‘cheaters’ in his workout and will likely wear them in the Plate. This is an initrguing move and Attfield said the colt seemed to be hanging a bit and wants him to focus a bit more.

Perhaps the field for the Plate will come together on a firmer note as media and horsefolks will see who ships over for the paddock schooling for the Plate barbeque today.

CANADIAN-BRED WINS IN IOWA
ALTOONA, Iowa – Wynning Ride turned back defending Iowa Distaff champion Euphony to win the $100,000 stakes by a length Friday night at Prairie Meadows.
The Distaff and Saylorville were the supporting features on the first night of the Iowa Festival of Racing. The card was topped by the $125,000 Iowa Sprint. Subprime, whose connections chose to race elsewhere, and Patti’s Regal Song, whom suffered a minor foot injury while preparing to ship, were scratched from the Distaff, leaving a field of four to go to post in the 1 1/16 contest for older females.
