RAPID REDUX did it!! watch it all here – not sure why he wears different silks a lot and he hardly was matching with his blinkers last night, but hey, he won number 20 in a row anyway!

Since I have visited the site and museum in Dealy Plaza, I had to remark on the Nov. 22 1963 shooting of John F Kennedy – 48 years ago

The white arrow indicates an X marked on the road where Kennedy was shot. The 6th floor at Dealy Plaza overlooks (other white arrow)
HE DID IT!

The iron horse has done it.
RAPID REDUX won his 20th consecutive race (18th of 2011!!) last night just before 10 p.m. on a wet Mountaineer dirt surface.
Now, there were only 3 rivals and one was a filly, but still, if that race was a cinch, surely the previous 19 were not all easy.
The son of Pleasantly Perfect gelding out of a Storm Cat mare needed some coersion to get into the gate but he strolled home.
He’s gotta be tired by now, though no? Apparently there are more plans for him shortly but let’s hope he goes out safe and sound.
The modern day North American record – 2o straight wins.
Wow.

DID YOU WATCH IT?

SHE’S A WHIRLWIND

ATLANTIC HURRICANE has been a marvel this season, It’s that simple. Claimed by Stuart Simon earlier this year and owned by the trainer and partners Hollick and McLellan, the chestnut mare by Halo’s Image posted a 97 Beyer Figure when blowing away her rivals in the Grade 2 Bessarabian Stakes on Sunday. The Florida-bred likely wrapped up female sprinter honours at the Sovereigns (voting starts in early January).

Left in her wake was 3rd place finisher EMBUR’S SONG, who has had a big year in route races and the Canadian-bred should win champion older mare honours.

ATLANTIC HURRICANE surely has landed on the ballot for HORSE OF THE YEAR in Canada too. While NEVER RETREAT is the front runner in that category (and she races this weekend in a Grade 1), the Hurricane, who was ridden by Emile Ramsammy) has had a super record this season, just one loss in her last 7 races since Simon claimed her for $40,000 from Calyso and Rousseau Racing. The filly was a $21,000 yearling purchase by Steven Rousseau.

Blowin them away! ATLANTIC HURRICANE wins the Bessarabian.
