When Martin and Lori Neyka purchased Empire Meadows Thoroughbred Park in Adrossan, AB, they re-named it Empire Equestrian to reflect varied services it would offer. These include racing and second-career training for Thoroughbreds, a Thoroughbred breeding operation, and facilities for colt starting, jumping and dressage.

In this Canadian Thoroughbred article, we learn that prior to purchasing Empire, the Neykas were involved in many aspects of equestrian sport, but had no intention of getting into the stallion business. today, their roster includes the Langfuhr son Boadini, who ran for four years before bowing a tendon in 2012, and Car Talk (IRE), a son of leading sire Bernardini.

The Neykas’s breeding program focuses on quality, with both stallions and broodmares required to stand out in either pedigree, performance or both. Superior temperament and conformation are also critical factors, which helps the Empire Equestrian Thoroughbreds succeed in second careers after retirement from racing.
