Once again The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is leading the way to help improve our Canadian horse sport talent by providing competitions that strengthen the ability of our young riders early in their careers.

The National Medal Classes have a long history at The Royal, celebrating 25 years in 2013. The Royal is pleased to host the 2014 Running Fox Royal Championship Medal which will be a two-phase (flat and over-fences) jumper-based equitation competition for riders under the age of 21. The National Medal finals have provided a stable launching point for Canadian professional riders, trainers and coaches. Many past winners have gone on to represent Canada in International competitions. Two of the many successful graduates of this program include Tiffany Foster (2001), who was part of the winning Canadian Nations Cup team in Wellington, Florida this year, and Nicole Walker, the National Medal winner in 2011, who represented Canada in National Young Riders competitions on her tremendous mount Blue Lloyd earlier this season. The Royal is proud to continue this tradition that provides an opportunity for development of our young riders.

Following the success of two pilot projects in 2013, The Royal is pleased to announce the expansion of the All Canadian Junior Jumper Division and The Royal Horse Show Pony Jumper Division.

In 2013 The Royal, under the guidelines of Equine Canada, launched the 1.20m Junior Jumpers encouraging riders to develop and hone their skills on the path to representing Canada. This year The Royal will host a full national division at this level with competitors from across the country.

The Royal Horse Show Pony Jumper Division introduced as an invitational class last year, will now be offered as a full division. Qualified rider/pony combinations will compete based on the results following this season at participating Equine Canada events.

With an eye on the future of Canadian horse sport and with the support of generous sponsors, The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair continues to lead the way in offering quality competitions.
