The first of the 40th Anniversary Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ charter aircraft is scheduled into YYC this afternoon at 1530hrs with its precious cargo of international show jumpers. Sixty seven of the world’s best horses departed Liege, Belgium earlier today aboard a Boeing 747 destined for Calgary. Spruce Meadow officials can confirmed that the overseas loading went smoothly, as has the flight thus far with under 4 hours remaining until touchdown and deplaning commences.

The Boeing 747 aircraft, the first and largest of a number of ‘Masters’ charters scheduled in the next few days, arrives from Europe with 67 horses on board, many of having enjoyed a few days of rest following the European Championships. Included in the precious cargo is the 13 year old gelding Hello Sanctos, ridden by Scott Brash (GBR). This week the # 1 ranked combination in the world will be in play for nearly $ 2 million in prize money if the are successful in winning the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping.

Also included in the Charter’s cargo are 8 magnificent State Stallions of Germany and tonnes of freshly cut flowers from Holland that will adorn the courses and the grounds during the 40th Anniversary ‘Masters’.
