Upon the completion of his three-year term, Jeffrey Begg will be stepping down as Chief Steward of The Jockey Club of Canada. The Board of Stewards has appointed Glenn Sikura to succeed Begg as Chief Steward, effective on June 9, 2018 at the Jockey Club of Canada’s Annual General Meeting.

Sikura has been a predominant figure in the Canadian Thoroughbred Industry for many years and has been a member of the Jockey Club of Canada for several decades. He is also the past President of CTHS Ontario Division and Current Director, the Past President of the CTHS National Division, the Past President of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, Past President of OHRIA, and a former director of both the Breeders Cup Limited and TOBA.

Begg was named Chief Steward of The Jockey Club of Canada in 2015. The Jockey Club of Canada thanks Jeff for his time and dedication to this organization. Jeff will remain on the Board of Stewards of The Jockey Club of Canada until his term as a Steward officially ends next year at the Annual Members Meeting in 2019.

The Jockey Club of Canada is also pleased to announce that Candice Dixon will take over as General Manager of The Jockey Club of Canada, effective May 1, 2018.

Dixon has always had a passion for horses. Formerly a long time Assistant Trainer to Catherine Day Phillips, Dixon has worked in the industry for over 15 years. The Jockey Club of Canada looks forward to working with her and believe she will be an asset to our organization.
