TORONTO, August 21, 2019 – Reconfigure made a late dash to take the $75,000 final of the inaugural Woodbine Turf Sprint Series by less than a length with Patrick Husbands aboard on Wednesday evening (August 21) at Woodbine Racetrack.

The first two legs of the competitive series also yielded close calls with Stormy Rush upsetting at 11-1 by a neck then Perfect Forester nosing him out in a subsequent photo finish.

They raced one-two out of the gate and were joined on the outside by Western Trouble down the backside in the finale, but series newcomer Reconfigure hauled down the front-runners in deep stretch to win the five-furlong dash on the new inner turf in a course record :55.62.

Reconfigure was the 7-5 favourite entering the series with a 2-1-1 record from four seasonal starts and he paid $4.80 to win. Taking home the lion’s share of the purse, he nearly doubled his annual income.

Perfect Forester was boxed in at the rail turning for home, but escaped late to edge out Western Trouble and Stormy Rush for the runner-up role. Hitters Park, Sumerian Bell, Nashville Knight and Arrius completed the order of finish.

The lightly raced seven-year-old Lemon Drop Kid gelding, with a sporadic race record prior to 2019, was claimed by trainer/owner Robert Tiller for $25,000 last month.

With a pair of wins in his first two career starts at Gulfstream Park back in 2014 and 2016, Reconfigure is now five-for-seven lifetime.

The series was for horses three years old and up that have started for a claiming price of $25,000 or less in 2018-2019.

Live Thoroughbred racing continues at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday, with first race post time set for 4:05 p.m.
