If you’re wondering what holiday gift to buy for the equestrian who has everything, the House of Gucci has you covered. The fashion brand has a historical connection to horses and riding; their iconic snaffle bit is used in loafers and as prints on bags, scarves, you name it. Or as the Gucci website explains, “Equestrian references date back to the 1950s, when Guccio Gucci first developed the Web stripe and Horsebit hardware. The House’s roots are continually revisited in new and unexpected ways.”

Now, about those unexpected ways… Current in-house designer Alessandro Michele has served up two equestrian chic offerings for the fashionista horse person in your life (or perhaps that’s you).

There’s what the brand has simply dubbed, “visor with harness.”  It has the sun visor silhouette of a traditional riding helmet, complete with chin strap, but alas, that is where comparisons end. The harness crisscrosses over your head, leaving it bare except for a striking and ornate mohawk made from horsehair. Yes, you read that right. Look at the image for proof. And if you can’t live without one, it will cost you around $3,765 CDN.

For the classic riders among us, Gucci also has a traditional velvet helmet. The company site describes it thusly: “Here a velvet hat recalls the helmets worn for horse riding competitions. The style is completed by a leather chin strip and subtle bow detail on the back.”

To be clear, this is not a certified helmet for actual, you know, riding, but to make one look like he or she rides. But if you’re inclined to go with the equestrian look 24/7, for say, grocery shopping or brunch with friends, this helmet will set you back around $2,260 CDN.

Happy shopping, folks!
