Guelph, ON – Equine Guelph in partnership with the Office of Open Learning, University of Guelph, is offering a new online course in Equine Event Management. Organizing an equine event is a key component of working in the equine industry and this 12 week course will provide you an opportunity to learn event management principles and to develop the skills to plan, initiate, host and evaluate a successful event.

“Hosting events is part of management of an equine business and business savvy owners and managers know it is necessary to organize a variety of special events to attract clients, customers and community support.” says Gayle Ecker, Senior Manager, Equine Guelph, “However, equine events whether a horse show, sale, clinic, fair or any of the wide variety of events held each year, require planning and consideration for both people and horses.”

“This course is an excellent opportunity if you are interested in learning the ‘ins and outs’ of hosting a special event for the equine industry” says Marjory Gaouette, Manager Program Development in the Office of Open Learning “Guest speakers will enhance the online learning experience by bringing case studies of equine events to life and students can expect to develop an equine event plan.”

The Equine Event Management course is one of the electives in the Certificate in Equine Business Management offered by the University of Guelph. This distance education course runs from May 11, 2009 until August 2, 2009 and can be completed entirely online.
