The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS) is excited to announce a national series of Sales Stakes races. The series will allow any Canadian-bred yearling passing through any CTHS yearling sale in 2018 to be eligible for the Sales Stakes in any province.
The program is designed to promote Canadian-bred Thoroughbreds by providing increased incentives for buyers to attend and make purchases at all the Canadian sales. It is anticipated that the series should increase prices at Canadian sales, which will be beneficial for all consignors. More importantly, the CTHS believes that the field sizes in the Sales Stakes will improve as a result of the increased eligibility.
The CTHS intends to work collaboratively with the racetracks to ensure that races are appropriately spaced to allow horses to participate in the races in multiple provinces.
