Incredicat, bred in Ontario by co-owner Kinghaven Farms, led at every call in Saturday’s $118,200 Wando Stakes, at Woodbine.

The Discreet Cat-Lady Auchamore colt, making his first start going two turns, settled comfortably on the lead for jockey Luis Contreras making the half in :49.79 with Perfect Tay stalking from second position. Incredicat maintained a narrow lead through the far turn as Classic Bryce, who broke inward at the start, made a three-wide bid at the top of the lane.

Incredicat, under a sustained drive, would not be caught, stopping the clock in 1:44.08 in the mile and a sixteenth ‘Poly’ tilt.  Classic Bryce held on for place, a half-length in front of Big Creek.

Trainer Ian Black was pleased with Incredicat’s performance, racing without blinkers for the first time, following a third-place effort in a sprint at Gulfstream Park.

“I needed to get a run into him before he came home,” said Black. “He relaxed really nicely today.”

Incredicat earned $72,000 for his connections improving his lifetime record to 2-0-1 from three starts.

He paid $4.40, $2.70, $2.40, combining with Classic Bryce ($3.70, $3.10) for a $15.50 exactor. Big Creek ($2.60) rounded out a $56.80 triactor.
