Alan Plewis, founder and operator, along with his wife, Margaret, of the iconic Foxhunter Tack Shop in Stouffville, ON, for over 35 years, passed away on July 16th.

Plewis was deeply rooted in the equestrian community first as a professional rider, then as instructor, trainer, judge, steward, course designer, show organizer, saddle fitter, and stable manager who never failed to rescue old ponies and horses in need of homes. He was a beloved coach and mentor to scores of his “barn rats” over the decades, and many will remember winning their first ribbon at the Foxhunter horse shows.

According to a Facebook post, the family has decided not to hold a service or funeral, but ask that people remember Alan and all that he has accomplished in the horse community.
