Geneva.jpgThe FEI has awarded the 2010 Final of the Rolex FEI World Cup TM Jumping to Geneva (SUI). This event, which will be held from 14 to 18 April 2010, is the second FEI World Cup Jumping Final to take place in the Swiss city after a first in 1996.

“The FEI is looking forward to another outstanding Final,” said John Roche, Director of the FEI World Cup Jumping.

“It is a great recognition for all of us on the organising committee and our 700 volunteers,” commented Geneva CSI-W Sports Director Alban Poudret. “The 1996 Final was unforgettably theatrical with its final jump off between giant Calvaro cheered along by the Swiss public and little ET, which followed the terrible disappointment suffered by Rodrigo Pessoa. We expect the same electrical atmosphere in 2010.”

The Geneva International Horse Show, or le Concours Hippique International de Genève as it is known locally, is one of the world’s very best indoor competitions. It was the venue of the IJRC Top 10 Final for seven years in a row. 2010 will certainly be a big year for Geneva since, apart from hosting the Rolex FEI World Cup TM Jumping, the event will also celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The other cities, which had applied alongside Geneva, were Lyon (FRA) and s’Hertogenbosch (NED).
