My Gal Betty looks to best My Dear field of fillies at Woodbine

William Werner’s My Gal Betty, an impressive four-length winner on debut, headlines a talented field of eight in Saturday’s $100,000 My Dear Stakes, at Woodbine.

Trained by Hall of Famer Roger Attfield, the daughter of Point of Entry-Gal of Mine arrives at the 5 1/2-furlong Tapeta sprint for juvenile fillies from a driving score under leading rider Rafael Hernandez when sprinting just a furlong shorter on her May 20 debut.

My Gal Betty is from the same family as multiple graded stakes placed America America and Grade 2 winner So Long George who took the Nijinsky Stakes, a nine furlong turf tilt, here in 2013.

The prominent effort by My Gal Betty on debut came at the expense of My Dear rival Golden Garter. My Gal Betty has breezed four times since her maiden win including a sizzling five furlongs in :59.80 on June 21. Rafael Hernandez retains the mount.

Augustin Stable homebred Entirely, another daughter of Point of Entry, will make her Woodbine debut from a lengthy layoff following a victory in her lone start when 3 3/4-lengths clear in a five furlong turf sprint at Gulfstream Park on June 1. Trained by Jonathan Thomas, the dark bay filly will be ridden by Alan Garcia.

Windhaven Farms homebred Tiz Breathtaking, an Ontario-bred daughter of Tiznow-I’m Breathtaking, is perfect following one start when two lengths the best in a 4 1/2-furlong Tapeta sprint over My Dear rival Golden Garter. Luis Contreras will ride for trainer Mike Doyle.

Subsidiary, a sibling to multiple stakes winner I’m Stoked, is also undefeated following a 1 1/2-length score in her June 2 debut for trainer Mark Casse and owner Gabe Grossberg. The Central Banker-Wouldthisbemagic chestnut was bred in Ontario by James Everatt, Janeane Everatt and Arika Everatt-Meeuse. Gary Boulanger has the call.
