It is with great please that we introduce Kalie McKenna in her new role as Manager, Coaching and Audrey Lapointe, as Manager of Recreation, Trail and Tourism. McKenna began her new position at the Equine Canada office on July 8, 2013. Lapointe will join the team on a full time basis as of September 3rd, 2013. Both bring a depth of knowledge of sport and administration that will prove invaluable to the association and Equine Canada members.

Kalie McKenna, Manager of Coaching

A Kingston native, McKenna holds a Bachelor of Sport Management with Honours from Brock University. She is a competitive athlete in the sport of curling and a certified Competition Coach, Learning Facilitator for the Competition Coach program, as well as an Official. Her sport employment history includes a student internship with Equine Canada as well as working with PSO/TSOs and NSOs. In addition, McKenna brings with her experience working with the Coaching Association of Canada and in developing new NCCP programs.

“I am pleased to welcome Kalie back to Equine Canada as our new Manager of Coaching,” says Craig Andreas, Chief Operating Officer. “Her education, knowledge and experience in this field are great additions to our staff. I am confident Kalie will be instrumental in achieving our objectives in coaching and Long-Term Athlete Development identified in the One Vision Strategic Plan.”

Audrey Lapointe, Manager of Recreation, Trail and Tourism

Lapointe, a Quebec native, spent five years working as an educator and has a strong background in equine sport. She is an avid trail rider, and a member of TREC Quebec with hopes of returning to her first love, endurance riding. She is also the author of the new Québec à cheval/Equine Canada Learn to Trail, Ride and Guide reference manual and program (to be launched this fall) and has been consulting with us on equestrian tourism since 2011. It has been her secret goal for some time now to become involved in developing a national program for equestrian tourism and trails with Equine Canada.

“Audrey brings tremendous enthusiasm, talent and knowledge to this role with Equine Canada,” explains Maggie Harvey, Director of Industry and Government Relations. “She is passionate about trail riding, equestrian trail development and encouraging more Canadians to experience the joys of horse backing riding in the open.

Over the next several months she will be meeting with our provincial recreation partners, including outfitters, facility operators, trail groups with the objective of delivering on Equine Canada’s strategic goals for equestrian tourism and recreational riders.”
