When: September 22, 2012 at 4 pm EDST
Where: 450 chemin de Gaspé, Bromont Equestrian Park, Quebec – Hospitality Tent, Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships
Why: For the purpose of voting on recommended changes to the official ByLaws of Equine Canada
Agenda: Agenda-Equine Canada General Meeting10 Sept 2012

As many of you know, the past several months have seen tremendous collaboration, on a number of fronts, on behalf of the country’s equestrian sport and horse industry. At the same time, the Federal Government enacted new legislation in 2011 governing Not-For-Profit Corporations – Equine Canada is a not-for-profit organization. This combination of events has necessitated the revision of several sections of the Equine Canada’s Bylaws. The Board of Directors has therefore called a General Meeting for the purpose of voting on the recommended revised Bylaws.

We have put together the following background information items to guide you through the recommended amendments:

Why is Equine Canada Revising its Bylaws?
Equine Bylaw Changes 2012
Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act
Accord on Roles and Responsibilities
Letter to Voter Registrants

In order to vote, you must be eligible to vote and be in good-standing as of August 7, 2012 (please see below). Voter registration opens at 2 pm at the Park. You will be asked for photo ID and proof of membership with your provincial/territorial sports organization, or your Equine Canada Sports License or membership.

ONLINE VOTING IS NOW CLOSED If members registered to vote on-line and/or requested a ballot to vote between August 9 and 23, they will not be permitted to vote in person at the General Meeting, but of course are welcome and encouraged to attend.

All P/TAs, National Associations and Corporate members, in good standing as of August 7, can appoint a delegate to vote for their organization, in person, at the General Meeting, IF they have not already exercised this vote during the on-line voting period between August 9 to the 23.
