Irish show jumper Cian O’Connor placed the winning bid on Cassanova PB all the way from Tryon, North Carolina, where he was competing at the World Equestrian Games.

O’Connor paid 21,000 euro for Cassanova PB (Cornet Obolensky x Quaprice Z), who was part of the SELL Foal Auction Brabant. He started the colt’s grandam, Cutting Edge, at 1.50m level and became interested in Cassanova PB from breeder Peter Bastiaansen of Tilburg. O’Connor has recently invested in foals from good sport lines at various auctions.

SELL Foal Auction Brabant, was held September 22nd at the Riding School Heijligers in Asten. Only a handful of foals were not sold, but the others yielded an average price of 6,764 euro.Ten foals went for 10,000 euro and more and 14 between 7,000 euro and 10,000 euro.

“We are very satisfied,” said SELL Foal Auction Brabant’s chairman Anton van Limpt. “This year we offered a very stable foal collection. The VIP sector was chock-a-block, there was interest from abroad, but several foals were also sold locally. I talked with many content breeders. I think that we can call this an honest auction with fine, realistic prices.”

Herman Seiger invested 16,000 euro in Nashville-Terma (Halifax van het Kluizebos x Contendro I x Guidam), bred by Wim van Gestel from Hooge Mierde out of the full sister to the KWPN stallion Brainpower which jumped at 1.50m level under Willem Greve. Ucello van Alle Winden Z (Untouchable x Lys de Darmen), born at Tacx Stables in Wassenaar, went for 11,000 euro.

Sold for 14,000 euro was the young, but superbly moving Naz Nyle Texel (Glock’s Toto jr. x Jazz x Burggraaf) by auctioneer Frederik de Backer. Wim van der Linden and Grieteke Oldenburger bred this colt out of the ZZ-Licht dressage mare Evieta Corieta Texel and were rewarded for this with 14,000 euro. The striking Nero van de Baanse (Franklin x Charmeur) bred by P.P.W. Janssen from Overloon found a new owner in Nico Witte for 12,000 euro.

Dressage rider Lotte van den Herik can look forward to training the fantastically moving Nandoe Dorette (Franklin x Farrington), bred by Hans Koopman out of the line of Don Juan de Hus. This filly was sold for 10,500 euro. For 500 euro more, New Dutch Gold (Double Dutch x Negro) changed hands from breeder Henri van Gils.

Three foals were bought by Brazilian show jumperThiago Ribas da Costa. Other foals went to Germany, Finland, Great Britain and Italy. Stal van der Vleuten bought the filly Chanelly Z (H&M Chilli Willi x Voltaire), bred by Marcel Oomen.
