The following Pony Club members from across Canada will form the team for the 2009 International Mounted Games (PPG) competition to be held at the Calgary Polo Grounds, July 6th:

Meghan Midwood, Toronto/North York Branch, Central Ontario Region

Nicole Robinson,  Guelph Branch, Western Ontario Region

Kelsey Van Brabant, Sturgeon Valley Branch, Alberta North Region

Kara King, Pembina River Branch, Alberta North Region

Taylor Roney, Vancouver Branch, BC Lower Mainland Region

They will compete against teams from Australia, Great Britain and the USA, in a special edition to celebrate Canadian Pony Club’s 75th Anniversary.

Pony Club Exchanges always have activities scheduled that give visiting teams a chance to see something of the host country.  One of the activities will be a visit to the famed Calgary Stampede.

The Games are for members aged 15 and under as of January 1st of the current calendar year.  They consist of a series of relay races involving a wide variety of props and requiring high degrees of skill. Only four riders participate in each game to give the ponies a breather between races.  They work very hard! Ponies are chosen for talent and enthusiasm (just like the riders), and are not of any particular breed.  All riders will be riding borrowed ponies to provide a level playing field for all competitors.

The Games are a favourite Pony Club activity just because they are so much fun, both to play and to watch.
