John Anderson, Jonathan Asselin, Eric Lamaze, and Ian Millar will represent the Canadian Show Jumping Team in the $350,000 BMO Nations’ Cup held Saturday, September 10, at the CSIO5* Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament in Calgary, AB.

Anderson, 44, of Calgary, AB, will ride Terrific, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Foxdale Farm Inc.

Asselin, 52, of Calgary, AB, will ride Showgirl, an 11-year-old selle français mare owned by Attaché Stables.

Lamaze, 43, of Schomberg, ON, will ride Hickstead, a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion owned by Ashland Stables Inc. and Torrey Pines Stable.

Millar, 64, of Perth, ON, will ride either In Style, a 16-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Sue Grange of Lothlorien Farm, or Star Power, a 10-year-old Dutch-bred gelding owned by Team Works.

“I think we have a good team with a group of strong and experienced riders who will be comfortable riding in the big ring on the big day,” said Terrance Millar, chef d’équipe of the Canadian Show Jumping Team.

In addition to the members of the Nations’ Cup Team, Tiffany Foster, 27, of Schomberg, ON, and Emily George, 26, of Calgary, AB, will represent Canada in the international division at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament from September 7 to 11, 2011.

A Nations’ Cup is the only competition in show jumping where riders, in teams of four, compete as a country.  The top three scores from each team are counted towards the final result of the two-round competition.

There are only two Nations’ Cup events held annually in North America.  The $350,000 BMO Nations’ Cup at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament in September and the $75,000 FEI Nations’ Cup at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL, in March.
