Two men and two horses were killed in a crash on the Crowsnest Highway (Highway 3 and 95) near the community of Moyie in British Columbia, on February 3rd. The lone survivor, a female passenger, is in critical condition in hospital.
Creston RCMP reported that a tractor trailer traveling westbound lost control on black ice, jack-knifed and went into oncoming traffic, where it collided with an eastbound pickup truck towing a horse trailer.
The 59-year-old male driver of the tractor trailer, from Edmonton, was ejected and died on the scene.
The driver of the truck and horse trailer, a 51-year-old male from Cranbrook, died on the scene after being trapped in his vehicle.
A woman was pulled from the pickup truck and transported to Cranbrook Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later airlifted to Kelowna Hospital.
Both horses in the trailer died on the scene.
