News has spread rapidly in the Flamborough horse community about Elyse Leduc who was seriously injured in a horrific, head-on car accident. The crash occurred just before 7 a.m., January 27, on the snow-covered northbound lanes of the Highway 6 in Waterdown, Ontario. Elyse Leduc’s compact Ford Focus came into hard contact with a powerful Peterbilt truck.

It took over 30 minutes of the thorough work, for the emergency crews to get the 22-year-old out of the car. She was then transported to the Hamilton General Hospital, where a team of doctors, nurses and specialists attended to her life-threatening injuries. With both of her arms and legs fractured, a number of broken ribs, ruptured kidney and collapsed lung, Elyse is expected to survive, but it can take over 12 months for her to fully recover.

Elyse’s friend Tiffany Stein and Alyssa Patcheson created a Facebook group called “Speedy Recovery for Elyse Leduc” and have already begun to collect donations by means of an Auction For Elyse Leduc. Equine artwork and photographs, equestrian memorabilia and collectibles, new and used horse tack and accessories, clothing, etc. are greatly appreciated to help pay for the Elysa’s horses care.

In addition, EquineLUX is offering its innovative English saddle pads and sheepskin half-pads with pockets to support Elyse Leduc by donating 20% of its sales.

“We at EquineLUX are eager to help Elyse as much as we can at the time,” said Max McArrow, owner of the EquineLUX. “20% of the EquineLUX sales will go directly to Elyse for covering her personal and equestrian expenses while she is at the hospital. Participating customers must enter the special code “SUPPORT ELYSE” when purchasing any full-priced EquineLUX product. For instance, for every sale of a $145 saddle pad, a total of $29 will be transferred to Elyse.

We are also contributing a MerinoLUX non-slip Half-Pad with sheepskin lining, front and rear trim, and pockets for shock-reducing shims for the auction. This half-pad has been signed by Brianne Goutal, one of the Top 10 Rolex/USEF Show Jumpers. It can become a very special gift for either an amateur or a professional rider.”

“In the hospital, all Elyse has been asking about is her horses, “said Alyssa Patcheson. “Prada and Peanut mean everything to her. These horses are her passion and life. But now Elyse is unable to take care of them. That’s when she needs a little help from her friends.”

The “Auction For Elyse Leduc” will be held on from March 1 to March 7, 2014. For more information and bidder forms, please, contact Tiffany Stein at 289-440-3555 or Alyssa at 289-208-3203, or send them a message through Facebook.
