Winnipeg – MB – Unfortunately live racing has been cancelled for Saturday, May 10, 2008 due to a lack of entries.

Although the horse population is up around 800 horses, the poor weather leading up to the 50th anniversary season and harsh training conditions are being sighted as the major contributing factor to the lack of horses ready to run.

Racing will continue as scheduled both Friday evening May 9 at 7pm with eight races and Sunday, May 11 (Mother’s Day) at 1pm with nine races, all with full fields.

Mother’s Day Sunday will feature activities that will allow even the dads to have a good time.  Not only will moms receive a free flower (while supplies last) and the ladies from the fragrance counter of The Bay St. Vital be returning with free perfume samples, it is also Winnipeg Goldeyes Day.  Members of the Goldeyes team will be available for autographs throughout the afternoon.

Mom’s who enter our free $50,000 Show Parlay Challenge will also have a chance to win a 2 night getaway to the Elkhorn Resort and Spa including a deluxe room for two with a fireplace and stable view and a $100 spa certificate.  Two additional “fragrance package” draws will also be available courtesy of The Bay St. Vital.

Our Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament on Saturday night will continue as scheduled starting at 10pm.  On Saturday, the Terrace Dining Room will also remain open for those that want to enjoy our fabulous race night buffet at a reduced price of $19.95 (regular price $29.95) as simulcast racing will still be available.
