Northlands Park Racetrack and Casino is preparing to once again open its doors for thoroughbred racing beginning May 2. Several changes to the wagering profile have been made to offer increased value for the North American horseplayer – including offering the lowest WPS(at 14.5 per cent) and Pick 5 (at 10 per cent) take out rates of any racetrack.

“Our guests are our number one priority and have helped us establish Northlands Park as a premiere horse racing venue in Western Canada,” said Chris Roberts, Executive Director and General Manager of Northlands Park. “We are excited to reward our loyal guests by kicking off the 2014 thoroughbred season with improvements to the wagering format and the addition of new major events days at Northlands Park.”

Other changes to the 78-day meet include a 6:30 p.m. post time instead of a 6 p.m. for Wednesday and Friday race cards. The majority of the thoroughbred season at Northlands Park features three race cards per week.

Spring training for the thoroughbred season begins on March 21 with the official kickoff to the 2014 Thoroughbred season taking place on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. Northlands Park is proud to announce the addition of several major events days along with a stable of returning favourites. The 85th running of the G3 Canadian Derby is set for August 16, 2014.
