Roll out the black carpet! The best bred sport horses of Western Canada are prepped and poised to take the runway for the second annual Canadian Sport Horse Association (CSHA) Select Sale on September 9, 2013 at Creekside Farm in Calgary, Alberta!

This year’s “haute couture event of breeding” features a line up of equine talent hand selected by industry experts Bob Henselwood, Connie Dorsch, and Alan Wedge. Of the 30 horses considered, 16 made the cut for conformation and competitive suitability in the sport disciplines of hunter, jumper, dressage or eventing.

Ranging in age from 4 to 8 years, these ultimate “made in Canada” athletes showcase the world’s top bloodlines, including Portland L, Voltaire, Lord Sinclair, Regardez, Ferro, Corland, Ikoon, Wodan and more. Collectively, they represent the best breeding Western Canada has to offer.

“I believe the group of horses at this year’s Select Sale is the best yet. There is a very good selection for all levels from beginner to potential Grand Prix horses,” said Bob Henselwood.

Kicking off the bidding at the Denim and Diamonds Gala is “Geoffrey,” a 2012 Circle C miniature “pink” gelding donkey. Donated by National Bank Financial Edmonton, Geoffrey will be sold as Bridle #1 along with a stunning original portrait by acclaimed artist Henri de Groot, valued at $3,000. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Alberta.

With award-winning auctioneer Dan Skeels manning the auction block and tapas and bubbly flowing at the VIP tables, the Select Sale is the must-see event of the season. Trainers prizes—including tack from CWD Sellier, a pair of semi-custom Parlanti boots and more—will be awarded throughout the evening. Get ready to raise your bidding paddle. Your next champion awaits!
