Usually when I drop bales of hay down from the loft and through the trap door one of them will get somewhere near Zelador’s stall. Today was no exception. One of the bales was being eaten by Zelador. You know your horse is clever when he has his hoof on the bale (holding it steady) while he’s pulling hay out of it! I retrieved the bale by pulling it in a straight line away from his hoof and into the aisle. He had the bale half-way into his stall, under his gate. I’m thinking that I hadn’t seen this maneuver before because previous bales were large enough to get wedged under the gate and didn’t require any “thinking” on Zelador’s part.

I’m thinking we should try to record instances for the blog of “You know your horse is clever when…!!!”
